Alternative reality

Union of Arab Community-Based Associations (Ittijah) has prepared a petition to the governments of the United States and the European Union calling on them not to support Israel’s “Development Plan for the Galilee and Naqab (Negev)”. The full petition can be read in English here.

The petition states that Israel’s plan for “development” of these two areas is actually a plan to destroy the Palestinian presence in these areas. The “development” plan will further the confiscation of Palestinian Arab land, the demolition of thousands of homes and the forced evacuation of the Arab unrecognised villages, encourages step-by-step ethnic cleansing and reinforces the State of Israel’s racially discriminatory policies.

As this is the case, Ittijah calls on the governments of the United States and the European Union, and on the United Nations, not to support the “development” plan. Every dollar and Euro in support of the “development” plan is support for the destruction of the Palestinian presence in the Galilee and Naqab (Negev), and for the continuing, extreme discrimination by the State of Israel against the Palestinians living in Israel.

Are you, by any chance, packing a piece, like some other young Libs recently?
The Arabs can take a hike. Mmm, great response. I'll be sure to pass that on to the people owning confiscated land.

unfortunately not. ;)

Although full credit to those who decided on a novel approach to reducing labor style factional warfare, unfortunately the beirut option isnt that much better.

Possesion is nine tenths of the law. Land that the israely arabs (not palestinians in israel) use belongs to them. If they want more land, they should do what the israelies do, and buy it. After all thats how first world countries operate. To protest because some one is better at this then you, is pathetic. To try and link this to the palestinian israely conflict, even more so.

Buying land? Come on. Much of it was either taken illegally by the Israelis or stolen by the Israeli authorities. It's Palestinian land, so says international law. Then again, perhaps you'd rather ignore such laws...

The galilee and the negev where both territories handed to israel through the 1948 UN resolution.

According to common law systems of which israel is a part of, all land belongs to the sovereign, ie the state, and what the state gives, the state can take.

"What the state gives, the state can take"? And I thought Liberals believed in the sanctity of private property! :)

we do. But what i was talking about is the constitutional power of the state, rather then the political will to use that power.

So you'd be sweet if the Arabs, perhaps with Euro, Russian and even Chinese support, got their shit together and booted the Israelis out in a decade or so, that would be fine with you, eh? All's fair etc?

'But what i was talking about...'

You don't know what you're talking about, though I'll admit you do perhaps know how you feel about it.

And you need a spellcheck.

No that wouldn't be fine. Millions of jews would die in the bloodbath that would ensure following israel's collapse. Millions of arabs will die when israel launches its nukes. Why would anyone be fine with this?

But if that where to happen the arab position would be even more intransigent then the israely position as of now, and no international pressure, or Un resolution would change that.
