Should bloggers have to divulge if they're taking money to spruik political candidates or parties? The Washington Post investigates.
It seems pretty clear to me. If you're taking money from an individual or group and don't reveal the source and reason why, you're leaving yourself open to (justified) charges of being bought for positive coverage or online favours. Hardly ideal for an independent voice.

Yes of course you are right Ant and of course they should disclose. All conflicts of interest should be declared. Then again look at the history. We are so often kept in the dark about who is behind things. I'm sure you'd remember "Australians for Honest Politics"
Aussies for Honest Politics? God yes, and that's still unresolved. Of course when bloggers or journos are blindly flattering to any side of politics (like a few prominent bloggers I can think of!), questions need to be asked. Favours don't need to be only financial...
