The plot is lost

Ben Stein is a "writer, actor, economist, and lawyer in Beverly Hills and Malibu [and] a former presidential speechwriter". Writing in the American Spectator on the unmasking of "Deep Throat", Andrew Sullivan rightly suggests Stein is "completely losing it":

"[B]lood will tell, as the old saying goes: [Mark Felt's] posterity is now dragging out his old body and putting it on display to make money. (Have you noticed how Mark Felt looks like one of those old Nazi war criminals they find in Bolivia or Paraguay? That same, haunted, hunted look combined with a glee at what he has managed to get away with so far?) And it gets worse: it's been reported that Mark Felt is at least part Jewish. The reason this is worse is that at the same time that Mark Felt was betraying Richard Nixon, Nixon was saving Eretz Israel. It is a terrifying chapter in betrayal and ingratitude. If he even knows what shame is, I wonder if he felt a moment's shame as he tortured the man who brought security and salvation to the land of so many of his and my fellow Jews. Somehow, as I look at his demented face, I doubt it."

Mr Young Lib, lover of freedom and democracy.
Nixon was a fighter for democracy? Hello! Him, along with Nixon, bombed Cambodia and Vietnam, and killed hundreds of thousands.
But, you're right, slam Deep Throat, because he acted out of line.

I wonder which country is closest to Mr Stein's heart (should one turn out to exist)... the sam e one as Douglas Feith perhaps? At least Stein doesn't have his grubby hands on the levers of power.

nixon was also the Us president to commit to removing US troops from vietnam and he also instituted reforms to allow minorities better access to universities.

Not everything about the guy can be summarized in watergate.

Jesus, still defending Nixon. How cute...
Nixon was a criminal, who bombed innocents in Asia, and in a just world, would have been tried for war crimes.

He was a criminal and so by the way was Mark Felt who was later jailed for doing the exact same thing nixon ordered except this time against left wing students.

Nixon's commitment to withdraw US troops from Vietnam was an election campaign strategy. US bombing of Indochina (Yes, Vietnam, but neighbouring Laos and Cambodia too) actually intensified under Nixon. So there's your peace lover.

Next thing Mr Y-L-B will be telling us not to brand Saddam an evil dictator. He did, after all, monumentally improve Iraq's economy and living standards during the 1980s to such an extent that Iraq was the most advanced Arab nation and was even awarded a humanitarian award by the UN (Saddam that is, not Mr Y-L-B)!

The charge that Felt weakened the Jewish state by ‘undermining’ Nixon’s Presidency is incredibly irrational. I don’t see how supporting an aggressive colonial regime is exactly in the interests of Jewish people (either in Israel or the Diaspora).
