Israeli peace group, Gush Shalom, in Haaretz on August 12:
The day after tomorrow, the curtain will rise on the great play: the head-on clash between Ariel Sharon and the settlers.
The day after the disengagement, Sharon and the settlers will form again a common front, in order to prevent the dismantling of the West Bank settlements.
The Israeli public, which supports the withdrawal from Gaza, must demand its continuation in the West Bank, so as to enable us to lead, at long last, a normal life in our state.

Ok, I'm gonna make a prediction:
Even after the civilian pull-out of Gaza, Sharon will be the target of an assasination attempt by a pro-settling Jew.
Antony:
If you support Shalom's analysis, will you be game to say that he'll be safe after the civilian pull-out of Gaza?
Of course not. Sharon is now a target for fundamentalist settlers, supported by him for decades. Who created this mess?
So you're predicting there won't be a common front after the disengagement?
Exactly.
My upcoming New Matilda column explains all. Hold that thought, out in few days...
