Just ignore the Canadian elephant in the room...but seriously, when do these socialist industry-nationalising anti-US governments ever work out well?

i for one take exception to the language used by previous poster,
if that is not the limit then i'd like to know what is,
not to mention the fact that it shows a pretty aggressive approach to communication and undoubtedly indicates a very small brain

also guys, honestly, socialism and pathological hatred of socialism fueled the last century and led to nothing positive, isnt it time we moved on,
trying to manage a government and actually lift general living standards, healthcare provisions and save whats left of the environment doesnt make you a bolshevik,
and all those thinking canadas turn to the right is funny or good are moronic, a world made up of right wing americanised puppet states will be bad for you and your children and all that real aussies hold dear

Chavez is also doing 'Land Reforms' but that doesn't get as big a mention because..well you know Mugabe, the champaign of Land Reforms isn't doing so well PR wise. Maybe he can get some advise from Hamas who are spending a few hundred thousand dollars on a PR makeover.

Shabadoo and Stone-Cold,

Guys, I hate to ruin your party but...

I happen to be in Canada as we speak so let me inform you as to what is really going on dude. The Conservative have formed a minority gvernment and wil essentially be neurtered.

It's a miralce that the progressives lasted this long after the Quebec sponsorship scandal that shoudl have broght he government down the first time.

This was by no keans a move towars conservatism as it was a punishment for the incumbents. Furthermore, Canada is more to the left and sicialist than even Australia. Harpers bunch would be laughed out of Howards cabinet.

Stone-Cold, welcome to the firum. BTW you're an imbecile.

Melanie, it's a same yo uforgot to mention how the Bushies are spending 1.9 million of Palestinian aid toward anti-Hamas campaining. Hlaf truth;'s my edar. Tut tut

It's good to hear this. It's not as bad as we've been led to believe by the worldwide conservative media.

So Canada won't be joining the Koalition of the Killing in Iraq then?

Does this new conservative Canadian government have any foreign policy at all?

Well, they are more pro-American than the Martin government, but Harper will tread wearilly for a while. He is talking abotu re-considering joinign he US missile defense, but seeing as the bloody thing doesn't work, he'll be hard pressed.

It's not surprising the international media hs jumped on this as some sort of right wign movement, but this was very much a case of rejecting a stale incumbent than it was a desire to join in Bush's excellent adventures.

Harper has a minority goivernment, whcih he has had to form with a socialist and a speratist, so keeping that arrangement together is going to keep him more than occupied. In Aussie terms it would be like Howard forming a coalition with the greens and One Nation.

Canada has always kept a safe distance from the US. Many do not realise tehy were not even participants in Vietnam.

The Conservative's main coalition partners are a socialist (Jack Layton) and a seperatist from Quebec, so in terms of right wing foreign policy, Canada will remain a toothless tiger.
