Countdown to reality

The relationship between America's Israel lobby and the Iraq war remains one of the last great taboos in political and media debate. Mazin Qumsiyeh dares speak some truths about this subject matter. His conclusions should make you most uncomfortable.

I think it's hard to write on this stuff as a gentile and not be labelled anti-semitic. Usually by conservative gentiles!

By contemporary standards Hannah Arendt would be anti-semitic, apparently.

Indeed. And it's time for that fear to be lifted. Much of the pro-Israel lobby is happy for it to continue, for obvious reasons. Their insecurity on Israel's position is much more tenuous than they think...

"[…] Saddam wanted to support the Palestinians and wanted to build a strong country (the rest as you know is history)."

Yes, of course, you support Palestinians by shelling Israeli suburbs. Saddam is wonderful.

“For those of us interested in freedom and equality (i.e. human rights), it is simply not correct to try to ignore history and facts and accept the language of our oppressor.”

Except for the centuries of pogroms, the events of 1948, 1967, 1973, and Oslo, we can forget this part of history.

And facts? For Qumsiyeh, like most Israel bashers, anything that isn’t the mainstream is immediately part of the greater Zionist control on the world. At least he stopped short of saying the Jews control the world’s finances.

Nope.
Just a journalist, with an Arts degree, mad amounts of reading, travelling and life experience.

That’s a bit arrogant, dirtbike's talking to me. ;)

Nope.
Just a student, barely through an Arts degree, can barely read a copy of FHM, virtually no travel or life experience.
