Because we can

While a poll conducted by the BBC World Service finds Iran and the US having "a negative influence on the world", Richard Perle, a key backer of the US-led war in Iraq, offers some gems on Iran and suggests that the West shouldn't wait too long before embarking on military action:

"If you want to try to wait until the very last minute, you'd better be very confident of your intelligence because if you're not, you won't know when the last minute is. And so, ironically, one of the lessons of the inadequate intelligence of Iraq is you'd better be careful how long you choose to wait."

Perle appears to be saying that intelligence is an imperfect science and shouldn't be relied upon to make military decisions. Therefore, military action should be an option because the West simply says Iran is a threat. No real evidence is required. Perhaps a hot flush is enough. The fact that Perle is even listened to, let alone respected in some circles, beggars belief.

Isn't Perle a charmer? Here he is, suggesting that the thing we've learned abtoi uthe Iraq debacle is that we should strike without hesitation.

Initeresting that he has come out fo the woodwork now. Everything this guy predicted about the Iraq was, along with his fellow neo parasites, has field to come to pass. One of his classics was that a year fro mnow (2004) he wouldn't be surprised if a statue of Bush were erected in the main square fo Baghdad, to replace the toppled one of Saddam.

It should also be noted, the like at least two other of his neocon henchmen (Douglas Feith and ), Perle shares the dubious honour of having had their security clearances revoked for passing on classified information to Israel. When Bush came to power, Rumsfeld re-instated it.

I would have hoped that by now, Perle woudl have sunk along with Conrad Black, for being in league with the fallen angel.

Here's an interesting piece that sums up peope like Perle.

It's nothing if not logical.

1. If uncertain, then pre-emptively attack.
2. One is always uncertain.
3. Therefore always pre-emptively attack.

You hit the nail on the head Edward.

The guy is a seld serving slime bag. Like his neocons bretheren, the deaths and casualties of the unecessary wars he champions, are a cost he is prepared to make.
