Dedicated to peace

"Despite Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, major violations of human rights continue to result from its occupation of Palestinian territories, construction of barriers and expansion of settlements, according to the United Nations official monitoring that situation in his latest report to the General Assembly."

UN News Centre, 28 September

UPDATE: Amira Hass continues to expose Israel's true agenda:

"Next month, as is the case every October, the Palestinian Interior Ministry in Gaza will begin issuing 16-year-olds their first identity cards. Each 16-year-old will bring photographs and documentation to his school, which will pass them on to the ministry. And, just as it has every year since the Palestinian Authority was established, the ministry will pass all the information on to Israel's Interior Ministry. Despite Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian ministry still cannot issue identity cards unless Israeli clerks approve the applications."

Well written, again, Amira Hass. The Palestinian Authority is not accountable to the Palestinian people. It is accountable to Israel.

Israel's intentions are pretty clear on the ground. The Palestinian Authority will be the feudal middle manager of a Palestinian population that will either flee or remain desperate and without meaningful emancipation.

Of those that remain, some will be offered the 'luxury' to provide a cheap labour force for Israeli businesses. The entire population is already a captive market for Israeli goods (which includes Palestinian water sources now almost entirely controlled by Israel).

If you visit one of the main checkpoints (Qalqilya, Kalandia outside Jerusalem, Erez outside Gaza), you can see this master plan in action. Giant hangar-like structures are being built on the Israeli side. These will be used to process Palestinian wage-slaves on their way to Israeli factories and bathrooms.

All thanks to US-funding. Not to mention Australia's courageous, blanket political support.

Ant, get dem books of yours out on the street!

Iqbal's photos in my book? They are stunning, to be sure.
Watch this space....Not sure what my publisher would say about that...

Hey more than happy for you to use my photos.

Anthony, that's just downright rubbish. I hope I just missed the sarcasm in your post.

1000s of Palestinians work illegally in Israel. On a daily basis they cross into Israel through the ranges avoiding the checkpoints. This is an open secret, even the Israelis know about it. Heck you can occasionally see people doing it from the roads so I'm guessing Israel's NATO-size military can too.

So if Palestinians were just Jew haters they could pretty much go blow up cafes and buses at will.

In terms of security, the checkpoints don't work because the soldiers are just kids with no real knowledge of processing people. Cars are randomly stopped and many soldiers struggle to identify Israeli visa stamps!

By the way as I type this Israel's F-16s are dropping sonic bombs every 30mins over Rafah. This has been going on since yesterday, non stop. Yes even at fucking 4am in the morning. What kind of sick 'security' measure is this exactly? The intent is clear. The aim is to terrify. Although sonic bombs are not explosive they produce a powerful shock wave akin to a weak earthquake. I'm staying at a hospital at present. I can hear kids crying down the hallway. Some windows in a school down the road just shattered.

It is not a security measure. Perhaps you missed the latest news? Israel left Gaza. They are a nation unto themselves.

Shortly after gaining independance, they attacked Israel. Israel is merely fighting back.

Surely you agree that no sovereign nation can allow itself to be attacked without severe retribution? No tit for tat as it was regarding a rebellous civil population.

It is now war. Grow up.
