Fisk barred

"U.S. immigration officials refused Tuesday to allow Robert Fisk, longtime Middle East correspondent for the London newspaper, The Independent, to board a plane from Toronto to Denver. Fisk was on his way to Santa Fe for a sold-out appearance in the Lannan Foundation’s readings-and-conversations series Wednesday night."

It's too early to tell whether this was merely a bureaucratic bungle or something more sinister.

I eagerly await the Fisk essay in which he says he doesn't blame the officials for barring him; hell, he'd have kept him from boarding if he was an American official!

As he said in December, 2001, "They had every reason to be angry - I've been an outspoken critic of the US actions myself. If I had been them, I would have attacked me."

Playing the man again, Shab.

How about trying to explain how Fisk could possibly represent a security or terrorism threat?

What could possibly be sinister about preventing the entry of a hostile polemecist and supporter of the enemy who is a foreign national? Fisk is a British citizen, and as such has no automatic right of entry to the US; as a journalist, it's highly likely he tried to enter on a visitor's visa, without the necessary work permit. They turned around Molly Meldrum and some bint from New Idea for the same thing, and they weren't even coming to stir up hippies and tout support for terrorists.
Paranoid fantasy is the new leftist paradigm.

Paul, your rhetoric is meaningless. That might earn you applause with the 101st fighting keyboardists, but such crap will get you nowhere outside of that protected little circle.

Supporter of the enemy? Heh. Good one. You righties are so predictable. How about logging off and I will post on your behalf - no one will know the difference, and you spend your time in a more constructive manner. Waddya reckon?
