Chalabi offers the White House an exit route from Iraqi quagmire, Independent, November 8
Ahmad Chalabi is certainly a man corrupt Washington can do business with.
This is Bush ideologue, David Frum, back in August:
"I know Ahmed Chalabi not well but reasonably well. He is not a perfect man. But in a country full of very, very imperfect people, I think he is and always has been our best hope as somebody who shares democratic ideals, has political effectiveness, understands the system, is committed to a united and democratic Iraq."
Who said a liar couldn't warm Washington's heart?

Adhering to the tried and tested tool of US foreign policy America wants to nurture "Our Bastard" in Iraq.
Saddam, now and then, performed this role in the past.
But I fear Chalabi is too Westernised to the regular Iraqi "man in the street/riot/gunfight what have you" to pass muster.
He has neither headclothe nor beard and looks like a Shar of Iran in the making.
So Chalabi will end up either dead or rich and in exile.
