Sometimes, even the New York Times talks sense:
"The messy thing about democracy is that people tend to vote for the candidates they want - a point that seemed lost on Israel yesterday when it threatened to ban Palestinians in East Jerusalem from voting in the scheduled Palestinian elections if Hamas took part."
Hamas and other Palestinian factions are calling on Mahmoud Abbas to avoid further delays to the January 25 parliamentary poll.
The Palestinians have the right to a free, open and unimpeded vote. If Israel decides to block this right, the world will make the appropriate conclusions.

Sadly, the EU and Europe are often no more honest in their dealings than the US. If thee Palestinians elections are not free, fair and open, the world is essentially saying that Israel has the right to dictate who wins.
Let the Palestinians elect hamas. Then let Israel destroy them after the first attack. Let's be fair about it.

That right does not include allowing candidates from Hamas:
The nomination of any candidates, parties or coalitions will be refused, and such nomination or registration once made will be canceled [sic], if such candidates, parties or coalitions:
commit or advocate racism; or
pursue the implementation of their aims by unlawful or non- democratic means.
… and from the Hamas Charter:
Article Thirteen: Peaceful Solutions, [Peace] Initiatives and International Conferences
[Peace] initiatives, the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement […] the movement educates its members to adhere to its principles and to raise the banner of Allah over their homeland as they fight their Jihad […] There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. The initiatives, proposals and International Conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility.
[Article Fifteen: We must spread the spirit of Jihad among the [Islamic] Umma, clash with the enemies and join the ranks of the Jihad fighters. The ‘ulama as well as educators and teachers, publicity and media men as well as the masses of the educated, and especially the youth and the elders of the Islamic Movements, must participate in this raising of consciousness. […] I swear by that who holds in His Hands the Soul of Muhammad! I indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I will assault and kill, assault and kill, assault and kill (told by Bukhari and Muslim).
Article twenty-eight: Israel, by virtue of its being Jewish and of having a Jewish population, defies Islam and the Muslims.
Jihad in this case clearly does not refer to an internal, spiritual struggle, but 'unlawful' and 'non- democratic means'.
Sure, Danny. Why not? Anyone planning on using terrorism, or has already used it, to achieve such an aim should be prevented from running in Israeli elections. Although there is a notable difference between Israeli parties advocating annexing the West Bank and wanting harder policies on Palestinian terrorists, and Hamas- which has a track record of murdering Israeli Jews, and continues to plan future murders, assorted crimes, and the odd tea party to entertain journo’s from the BBC.
Yes, Orange, you need help. I'm a *RWDB* (heh) troll sent from the future to target you. When I'm done here I'm off to kill John Conner.
(with poor web skills... cut the WWW)
(I’m assuming you’re not ignoring me in this thread as well, Orange- you potty mouth, you…)
If you read it as well as copying + pasting the link, you would have noticed the very things Honest Reporting pointed out:

If you want, though, I'll condemn Zionist terrorism for you- just don’t use the 'C' word in another of your rants.
Funny how eddie believes a defensive war against the palestinians is a call for genocide. How much more can eddie make his antisemitism plain?
They have a spot waiting for you in the halls of the IHR eddie.
eddie a little to cowardly to do his own fighting. He'll be on the last camel. Addamo will have it head up inside it.
You can't help being an ass. We all feel sorry for you.
The call to wipe out the arabs on earth is the call for genocide.
The call to destroy thre Palestinian ability to cause war is not. But as an antisemite, you'll claim it is.
Just keep guessing, that way you're not a total fool.
Yes, you have struck again.
Who cares what an antisemite refers to as honor?
Who cares what an antisemite presumes?
Israel instituting a no breathing zone in Gaza is a step in the right direction.
