Partial praise

The US Jewish hip-hop scene is growing. Rabbi Schneier explains:

"Jews view themselves as a minority when it comes to issues of race and changing demographics, and on many questions their responses are identical to those of African-American and Latino respondents."

I await Jewish rappers tackling the myths of Israel. It's already happening in the Middle East.

What "myths" are they?

From '48 onwards. The 'land without people for a people without a land' line etc etc etc...
But for a 'liberal/left' person such as yourself, and vast knowledge of the Middle East, and, of course, disdain for the Arab people themselves, Israel must be defended no matter what.
You're in hallowed company. I think Sharon needs a new PA...

You would do well to know that "land without people, people without a land" was never, ever a core Zionist claim. In fact, this over and over repeated phrase is a piece of anti-semitic propaganda.

Do you know how many dozens, and maybe hundreds, of times I have read scholars, journos, and just regular Joes such as yourself parrot this phrase, and not one of them has ever sourced it.

Unfortunately the Arab propoganda machine appears to be winning. How anybody can claim that 19th century Palestine was a bustling metropolis is beyond me. It was a harsh, ugly, dusty, rocky dump.

From the footage I've seen, it looks like it still is.

Try Herzl, the father of Zionism:

and many others.

Really up on your Middle East facts...

Oh my god! I was right: you ARE years away from being able to comment sensibly on these matters. That 'Foreign Affairs" article was so riddled with historiographical howlers, I can't believe it was published.

Herzl never, ever mentioned this phrase. Again, the FA author quoted it without any references. Just mouthing the lies of Arab/Palestinian propoganda. In fact, Herzl advocated establishing a Jewish homeland in Uganda or Argentina!

The phrase is a misquote from Lord Shaftesbury's 1883 biography. And the early Zionists corrected him on that score. Both Herzl and other leaders such as Israel Zangill both wrote that the population of Palestine was about 600 000. These writings are from the first decades of the 20th century.

YOU had better send me advanced copies of your book, otherwise you are going to make a fool of yourself!

I'll keep that mind.
A person who speaks so wisely on the Middle East, and actually admits to barely knowing any Arab people or spending time in the region. I've spent much time.
It's called speaking with experience.

Hun, I don't care if you spend the rest of your life there; it will not alter Herzl's words one bit.

Seems like AL is trashed once more for his antisemitic leanings. So many non-jewish antisemites misquote to spreads antisemitic belief.

You would think Jews who try the same would actually check the source. But they're to busy toadying up to arabs and leftists.
