When will they learn?

Israel's persecution of nuclear whistle-blower Mordechai Vanunu continues. Haaretz reports:

"Mordechai Vanunu was arrested by Border Policemen on Friday during an inspection of a bus at the A-Ram checkpoint north of Jerusalem.

"Vanunu, who was a passenger on a bus en route to Jerusalem, is suspected of violating the terms of his parole.

"Jerusalem police officials said that authorities plan on transferring Vanunu - who had pledged to notify law enforcement anytime he plans on leaving the city - to the International Crimes Unit."

The man serves 18 years in prison, many in solitary confinement, and the Jewish state still argues he's a security risk. Vanunu is a fierce critic of Israel and its treatment of the Palestinians. He's one of the great heroes of the 20th century.

He's one of the biggest fools of the 20th century. Nothing has changed, but he is now 20 years older with nothing to show for it.

That goes without saying these days. The accusation is implicit in all Ibrahamav's posts.

Interesting how antony and eddie have already declared that the fool is an antisemitie.

I have no idea. betraying your country doesn't state your mindset on other items. Could be you guys are racists? Something about Israelis bother you?

It really is a strange situation! (Apartheid police state) South Africa and Israel collaborate and explode a nuclear device in the South Atlantic - some time in the 1980s I believe, Vanunu serves 18 years in jail for exposing what many in the world already knew - but the Israelis continue to persecute him. Why??
If they let him out of Israel, he would probably now expose not so much nuclear secrets with which he is totally out of touch, and therefore not privy to, but the conditions of prisoners in Israeli jails!
Well, there's another anti-semitic Jew to add to the list (me) - an homourable member of Masada2000's S.H.I.T. list, together with Chomsky and a few other notable people!
Funnily enough I am now of the belief that anti-semitism was started by the Jews themselves about 2000 years ago when a reform Jew in Palestine led a breakaway group and Joshua became Jesus and they called themselves christians.

Just as in any country, it is not up to the individual to expose state secrets, even those already "known"

mannie, if you wish to be idenified with other antisemites, no one is stopping you. Just realize that list includes Arafat and Hitler.

On a more carnal note - Mordechai was captured 20 yeears ago by means of a classic Mossad "honeytrap". A gorgeous (Hilary Duff like) Mossad agent was deployed to lure him, bed him and drug him.

Young Mordechai could have boasted about it to his prison mates - if he hadn't been kept in solitary for 18 years.

Israel's possession of nuclear weapons was suspected publically long before his expose. It was probably old hat with intelligence agencies - particularly the French who actively assisted Israel.

Given all that - Mordechai's actions were probably futile.

I disagree ibraham.

As in any country, at least in ay democracy, it is very much the up to the individual to expose what he belives to be illegitimate actions of the government.

I don't know how to copy and paste on blogs, but Ibrahamav invites me to join Hitler and Arafat as anti-semites.
However, Sharon and others of his ilk are spreading word internationally that any Jew who is not a supporter of Israel is an anti-semite, and in that case I am quite happy to join the Jews around the world who are not happy with Israel and its government.
Mordechai Vanunu was not and is not a fool - he was a whistle-blower at a time when the world needed whistle-blowers as it does again now when we are fed terrorism ALERTS AND ALARMS.

mannie, you invited yourself, I just let you know whose company you were joining.

No one but antisemites, like yourself, are stating that anyone actually believes that any Jew who is not a supporter of Israel is an anti-semite. You just did it here.

Vanunu proved his follishness by the way he was caught.
